EntryPoint Partners International has partner offices in several regions, including Singapore, Shanghai, Seoul, Manila, Bangkok, London, Oslo, New York, Houston, Rio de Janeiro, Perth and Melbourne. The company works closely with Storm Capital Partners, a licensed investment bank in London, and Maritime Asset Partners, a non-bank, specialised finance platform, in Luxemburg, to identify and bring forward prospective projects. Since 2013, more than USD 6 billion worth of finance and M&A transactions have been successfully closed.

Paal Utvik
Founding Partner

Paal is a Naval Architect by training and he obtained his MBA degree from BI/Fudan School of Management in Shanghai, China. He has more than twenty years of experience in the maritime, oil & gas and power generation sectors. Paal is the Founding Partner of LMP Pte Ltd and EntryPoint Partners International Pte Ltd. In addition, he is the Chairman and Co-Founder of the London-based investment bank Storm Capital Partners. Paal also sits as Co-Founder in Maritime Asset Partners, an investment fund in Luxemburg, and in Maritime and Merchant Bank in Oslo where he also acts as deputy member of the Board of Directors. In 2013, Paal joined forces with other maritime professionals in the Philippines to establish Blue Ocean Marine and Offshore Solutions, which provides maritime manpower to international ship owners and ship managers.

Now primarily based in Singapore and Manila, Paal spent almost a decade in China as the Head of Business Development for Grieg Shipping AS and Country Manager for OHT AS in Asia from 2004 to 2013. Before this, Paal had several years in South Korea building vessels for Leif Hoegh AS and working with R&D for Petroleum Geo Services in Houston, USA and offshore vessel design in Oslo, Norway.

Kristian Torvold
Partner

Kristian is a finance major from BI Norwegian Business School, with a MScdegree in Chinese Economy from Fudan University in Shanghai. He has more than 10 years of experience in Asia, from South Korea, China and Singapore. Currently, Kristian is based in Seoul for EntryPoint International, where he maintains close communication and connection with Korean conglomerates and financial institutions.

He spent six years in China, of which three years were with Modex Energy Services; a Shanghai based start-up company, producing offshore cargo, modular and well service equipment. As the Finance Manager his responsibilities included financial reporting, controlling, planning and auditing of the Chinese company with subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Brazil. Modex Energy Services was later acquired by an industrial group and a private equity fund, and Kristian moved to the new Singapore headquarters to assume the role as Finance Manager for the Modex Group. He held this position for two and a half years.

Ivar Knutsen
Partner

Having his roots from the shipbuilding hub at the North-West coast of Norway, Ivar has a passion for ship design and all things related to the oceans. He graduated with a Bachelor degree in 1995 and obtained his Master’s degree from the Norwegian Technical University in 1999. Based in Norway, he has been employed in a range of positions in the the oil and gas industry, primarily with Kvaerner, Aker Solutions, Aker Marine Contractors (later EMAS AMC), while for the last 3 years he has held a senior position in Vard Design, one of the world’s largest designers of specialised vessels.

Ivar Knutsen thrives in the junction where offshore contractors and shipbuilders meet, where the complex demands of the oil and gas industry needs to be aligned with the commercial and technical framework of a shipbuilding project. Through the years, Ivar has been involved in a multitude of projects from all sides of the table, within most segments of the industry. Projects have taken place in many corners of the world, such as Mexico, Sri Lanka, China, UK, The Netherlands, USA, Egypt, Dubai, Spain, France, Italy, and Norway. From this experience, he has built a wide network of contacts, and is able to support prospective and existing owners, designers, builders, contractors and suppliers from the maritime and offshore sector with in-depth knowledge and advice.

Ana Sonza
Partner

Ana is originally from Brazil. She graduated with a Bachelor degree in Dentistry in 1998. Having lived in many countries, among them Canada and Columbia, she learned to deal with different cultures and languages, and has worked in different sectors She is now based in the Philippines. Ana has a vast network and with that passion she joined EntryPoint Partners International and is particularly focused on opportunities within renewable energy in South America.

Gustavo Shinohara
Partner

Gustavo has more than 17 years of experience in structured finance, project finance, corporate finance and M&A. He was responsible for structuring and closing several project financings and structured facilities in either the banking or the capital markets for energy and infrastructure sectors. His professional experience was built in working in trading companies, infrastructure investment groups, private equity funds and oil & gas companies, in different executive positions. He has structured the first project bond (USD 270 million – Deal of the Year by Euromoney) in Latam O&G issued in the USA and Europe capital markets and the first sale-lease back transaction (USD 1.08 billion) in Latam O&G, among other transactions in the aggregate amount of USD 3 billion. Gustavo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Universidade de São Paulo.

Rodrigo Lopes
Partner

Rodrigo has more than 25 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, mainly in the drilling sector.He is the former CEO of Schahin Oil & Gas Division, responsible for all arrangements related to the project development of four drill ships and two semi-submersibles. Aside from Schahin, Rodrigo has worked for OSX and Sete Brazil. Further, Rodrigo was the former Vice- President of ABRAPET – Brazilian Drilling Contractors Association. A graduate in Economics at PUC-RJ, Rodrigo also has an MBA with emphasis on finance at IBMEC-SP and another MBA with specifCOPPE – UFRJ.

Justin Wu
Partner

Justin has been a solar pioneer since 20016 and has always had a passion for renewable energy. He is currently taking his MBA, with a specialisation in finance, at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Justin has over 10 years of experience in the renewable energy business, including five years in Germany, five years in Southeast Asia, specifically focusing on solar PV development and investments.

Justin has developed solar farms from green field stage until shovel ready in several Southeast Asian countries, conducted due diligence processes with local legal and tax advisory firms, and has full knowledge of all renewable energy processes and technical bottlenecks. He has strong access to Chinese state-owned investors, such as Three Gorges, CHD, SPIC, CGN Group, etc. and work very closely with Chinese EPC partners such as Power China and Energy China for infrastructure and energy projects.

Based in Shanghai, China, he speaks mandarin as his mother tongue, is fluent in English and communicates above average in German as well.

Liliana Troxler
Partner

Liliana is a highlyaccomplished senior executive with over 20 years of experience in Latin America and Asia working in key positions of top global companies like Unilever, Coca-Cola and Tesco. She has extensive expertise leading multiple functions across organisations such as finance, supply chain, logistics, strategy and commercial. She holds an MBA and a specialisation in Business Strategy from San Andres University of Buenos Aires.

Liliana moved to Asia in 2007 and is currently based in the Philippines where she started her own business consulting firm to offer her previous experience to engage in organizational design, change management, operations performance improvement and executive coachingsolutions.

Complementary to her consultancy practice Liliana joined EntryPoint Partners International in May 2017 where she decided to enter the development finance world to use her finance background in order to work on projects which results go beyond their economic success to promote sustainable development and positive outcome for communities.

David Coghill
Partner

David has 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry as an electrical and instrumentation engineer having been involved with engineering concept and detailed design, construction and commissioning of O&G projects in upstream and downstream sectors around the world.

David specialises in power generation and control system design including gas turbine power generation and compression systems. David has held lead engineering roles with major O&G companies such as ExxonMobil, Chevron and Inpex as well as the Technical Authority in Qatar Petroleum.

The electrical and instrumentation field experience David has gained on offshore and onshore O&G facilities, floating and fixed installations including LNG, have allowed him to build an impressive world-wide network of technical and commercial contacts in including those in tier 1 EPC companies and JV’s.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, David also works in business development management for an engineering company involved in LNG ship-loading and custody transfer technology and process analytics.

The team consists of experienced, motivated and result-driven professionals with significant industry knowledge and expertise from execution of transactions in the shipping, offshore, oil and gas industry.

Storm Capital Partners is a privately held boutique financial and corporate advisory company specialising in Asian outbound investments in the sectors of oil & gas, power generation, infrastructure and maritime.

Storm Capital Partners is an appointed representative of Storm Capital Management Ltd., the latter being authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority of the United Kingdom.

Maritime Asset Partners (MAP) is a non-bank, specialised finance platform, established in response to opportunities arising from the diminished supply of credit to owners and operators in the global maritime sector. MAP is primarily focused on secured asset lending, leasing and structured equity solutions in the commodity industrial shipping and offshore oil and gas sectors. The capital is flexible and commercially driven and is not constrained by rigid lending policies.

Maritime & Merchant Bank ASA (M&M) is a niche bank based in Oslo, Norway offering first priority lending to small and medium-sized ship owners and investors alike with 3-5 years maturity. M&M focus on transparent structures with conservative break-even rates, asset backed/ liquid collateral and typically around 50% LTV. The bank’s main objective is to be efficient and service minded through the entire assessment and credit decision process.
